Nostalgia
time again, folks.
The following item, headed as above, was sent to me by Byter, friend and colleague Vince C
Thanks Vince, you fellow old coot.
My comments have been added in italics.
The item is
obviously American in origin, hence the use of American English in some cases
and for the fact that not all the images would be known to us here in Oz.
Plus some escape me, if anyone knows the ones queried by me, drop me a line. I will post the mystery pics and responses.

If You Recognize Any Of
These 50 Pictures, I'm Sorry, You're Officially Old
Old and wise.
__________
If you've eaten dinner at a table like this...
Comments:
Ahh, the kitchen table of my youth.
What’s the Superman item on the table?
What’s in the tine.
Is that a salt shaker? Where’s the pepper?
__________
If you knew a kitchen with this exact kind of sink...
Comments:
Not only the sink but also the
cupboards of my childhood days.
Tap’s pretty fancy for those
days though.
And what’s all the stuff on
the draining bard?... a brush? Are they
paper notebooks, and spirax no less?
__________
If you've ever cooked a delicious meal in one of these...
Comments:
One of the greatest inventions
ever, the old crockpot.
My fave cooking in it (yes, I did
cook!!) was Beef Birds, lamb stew served with damper and casseroles.
You can still buy these type of
devices but now they are called slow cookers.
__________
If you can just HEAR this sound in your head...
Comments:
Yes, I can still hear the sound . . . grrr grrr grrr
grrr kerching!
__________
If you've ever used two keys to run a car...
Comments:
One key for the doors and one for the ignition.
God, how long ago was that?
__________
If you know exactly what song
you'd put on if you saw one of these...
Comments:
Unfortunately my folks did not let me frequent
places that had jukeboxes, thinking that such places is where teenage
delinquents and people like Fonzie hung out.
They were no doubt right.
__________
If you can think of the exact person that used to smell like these...
Comments:
What do you mean “used to”?
I still use Old Spice, Blue Stratos, Imperial
Leather, Brut . . .
Can’t beat them.
For those who have given me Polo, Yves St Laurent, Calvin Klein et al at Christmas, birthdays, I like them too.
__________
If you've ever been in a room with one of these...
Comments:
Does anyone know what this is?
__________
If you can still taste these...
Comments:
I don’t recollect children’s
asprin per se.
I recall my parents administering
adult tablets but breaking them in half.
Nor was anything orange flavoured.
Black ointment for cuts or stepping
on a nail, blue bags for bites and stings, castor oil for upset stomachs,
cloves for toothaches . . .
__________
If you've ever used this tool...
Comments:
This isn’t old, it can be found in
any kitchen apart from thiose households which do not cook.
Do people not peel potatoes any
more?
__________
If you can still feel the burn from this...
Comments:
For us it was iodine, yellow
stained skin, not red.
__________
If you have a very, very strong opinion on liver
and onions...
Comments:
I loved liver and onions as a kid, Kate hates it so we never have it, she is the Queen of the Kitchen.
Wouldn’t mind having it again but I guess it would
be on my Pat Malone.
__________
If you are familiar with where you can find these...
Comments:
Car cigarette lighter.
It’s a macGuffin in the 1994 flick Guarding Tess,
starring Nicolas Cage and Shirley MacLaine, not a bad film.
__________
If you know what this is used for...
Comments:
I guess scanners have replaced these.
Are they still in use in older shops?
