March 8 was International Women’s Day, here are some items from the news . . .

Fail of the Day:
The Australian Federal Government has removed a widely-mocked logo for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet's Women's Network after it was criticised for its "phallic" appearance.
The logo, a cursive purple W next to a rectangular shape with a rounded end, had appeared on the department's careers website.
The department said neither Prime Minister Scott Morrison nor the Prime Minister's Office were involved in the logo design.
The logo was the subject of additional outrage and mockery for being the same colour as the eggplant emoji, now removed from the telephone emoji collection, because it was being used in texting as a symbol for a penis:

Response of the Day:
Kim Kardsahian’s new squeeze is Pete Davidson, from Saturday Night Live. Apparently ex Kanye West is not pleased. His displeasure has included showing Pete in his new music video as being abducted, buried alive and then seemingly decapitated:
Pete has remained silent throughout all of this but finally had enough, sending a text message to Kanye on the same day West posted multiple Instagram videos in which he ranted about his issues with custody of his four kids with Kardashian.
In his initial message, Pete encouraged Kanye to “take a second and calm down. Kim is literally the best mother I’ve ever met. What she does for those kids is amazing and you are so f–king lucky that she’s your kids mom. I’ve decided I’m not gonna let you treat us this way anymore and I’m done being quiet.”
West responded “Oh you using profanity. Where are you right now?”
Pete sent Kanye a pic of a shirtless selfie with the message “In bed with your wife.”

Advice of the Day:
Still on the topic of Kim Kardashian, she has drawn flak for giving advice.
Kardashian conducted a video interview with Variety a few days ago alongside her sisters Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian and their mother, Kris Jenner.
In the video clip, Kim said, "I have the best advice for women in business: Get your f-ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people that want to work. Have a good work environment where everyone loves what they do because you have one life. No toxic work environments and show up and do the work."
Kardashian later addressed those who believe her life is easy, stating, "When you do product shots (or) when you (post) things that are work-related posts, it's still a job and it's still really hard," before adding, "If you put in the work, you will receive results. It's that simple."
Variety posted the clip on Twitter, prompting responses that pointed out the privilege Kardashian has in her life that has helped make her successful, while others noted that many people have to hold down multiple jobs just to survive on minimum wage.
Some comments:
"Richsplaining: When a person who hasn't experienced poverty gives you patronizing advice on how to get out of poverty.”
“I wish I was born rich so I could be self-made.”
"I think if you grew up in Beverly Hills with super successful parents in what was simply a smaller mansion... nobody needs to hear your thoughts on success/work ethic.”
"This same 24 hours in the day s– is a nightmare. 99.9% of the world grew up with a VERY different 24 hours."
"Kim Kardashian has no idea what real life, house, kids & work is like. I'm sick of these rich b-es acting like working class women are lazy!!!! She doesn't clean, cook & take care of the kids. She's got cooks, housekeepers, nannies, drivers, not to speak of all her bty care."
“Kim Kardashian telling women in business to get their asses up and work the day after International Womens Day has to be the biggest joke of the year”

Non-Response of the Day:
Two Labour frontbenchers were unable to define what a woman is during media interviews marking International Women’s Day. The Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, Anneliese Dodds, and Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, dodged the query multiple times in radio interviews.
Labour has pledged to remove safeguards in the Gender Recognition Act and enable people to ‘change sex’ by self-declaration. Under the proposed changes, it will no longer be necessary for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria and to have lived as though a member of the opposite sex for at least two years. The Bill will allow a man to change his gender simply by stating that he is a woman.
Labour's Shadow Minister for Women Anneliese Dodds
Dodds claimed there were “different definitions legally around what a woman actually is”, listing “the biological definition, legal definition” and “all kinds of things”. When pressed for Labour’s definition, Dodds claimed it depended on “what the context is”, claiming that because a number of men “transitioned” to live as women “they want to be defined as a woman”.
A Labour spokesman later denied that Dodds “struggled” to define the term, adding the Party’s definition was: “A woman is a woman.”
In response to the Shadow Minister’s comments, author JK Rowling tweeted: “Someone please send the Shadow Minister for Equalities a dictionary and a backbone.”
The Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper refused three times to offer a definition, saying she was not going to go down a 'rabbit hole'.
