Dianne sent me an email from Holland in relation to the post about the Dahlia Festival where a small Dutch town, Zundert, creates amazing floats out of dahlia flowers:
Hi Otto
How are you, springtime in Australia, wonderful time of the year. Was sitting at home watching on TV the Flower Parade, just so beautiful and wondering whether you would show it on Bytes. Even kids help by putting pins in the flowers ready for an adult to put it in place. Some of the moving eyes have people inside the animal to do the eye movements, must get hot in there.
A bit late replying but Sunday today, time to do the computer work.
I've just become a great grandmother for the second time, both 2 beautiful little girls. Flying in again in Feb. to spend time with them all.
Take care, regards
Diannne
Thanks, Di.

A surreal depiction of Vincent van Gogh, made of thousands of dahlias.
The 2015 display marked the 125th anniversary of the death of van Gogh, who had been born in Zundert in 1853.

Dianne also sent me a second email in response to my query as to whether readers were becoming tired of seeing posts of street art:
Hi Otto
Forgot to mention that I love the street art. Some of them are better then what I see in the Rijks Museum, Amsterdam.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for your interesting Bytes
Take care, regards
Dianne

Yesterday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day so I posted some pirate humour. Shortly after posting that Bytes I saw an item about a pirate themed house for sale in California that the owner has spent 20 years creating. Here is the item:

Ever fancied the chance to captain your own pirate ship? This home is attracting plenty of attention for its outlandish pirate theme.

The five-bedroom hilltop Spanish-style Hacienda estate could easily be one of the more eccentric homes in Riverside Country.

The mansion has a quarter-million dollar kitchen remodel and Ranch-style architecture, with each room opening up to the large courtyard.

The property boasts an enormous living room and dining areas, a nautically-themed bar/game room, a 16-seat theatre, a million dollar wine cave and a tasting room to rival the most elite Napa estates. Not only that, it holds over 2,500 bottles!

Realtor.com says the property’s bedrooms are all spacious and private; the master bedroom includes a gym and a newly installed euro shower.

Keeping in line with the theme, the property also features a lagoon-style pool, four waterfalls and a waterslide. Of course.

For the casual entertainer, there’s also a poolside barbecue and bar area to sit back and relax while enjoying views of the city.

But if you’re looking for something extra, you can’t miss the observatory with the 14 foot telescope, a large G-scale train layout and Koi ponds.

The Spanish eclectic-style home was built in 1985 and boasts views of the city lights, hills and mountains.

Realtor.com said the owner has spent the last 20 years continuously perfecting, improving and modernising his masterpiece.
