Ever stood in a spot and thought about a famous person who stood there earlier? Like standing on the same steps as Gough Whitlam when he made his famous “nothing will save the Governor General” speech following the dismissal of his entire government.
Russian photographer Sergey Larenkov did much the same with photographs.
Larekov collected photographs showing WW2 conflict and military action in Berlin, Paris, Prague, Vienna and St Petersburg, then spent a year locating and photographing the same sites as those in the old photographs. Larenkov digitally combined the past and present images to come up with eerie and fascinating images.
