Some more on flowers . . .

Recently I posted an item sent by Leo about a flower parade in Holland, specifically in a village known as Zundert, a parade that is amazing and beautiful.

Here are some emails received . . .

From Robyn:

Just loved the images and information about the bloemencorso. They are exquisite works of imagination and art and all the more worthy for being a communal effort and not corrupted by the millions of dollars on offer in the international art markets

From Diane, a friend who lives in Holland:

1st, Congratulations Australia for your beautiful Chelsea Flower Show win of 1st prize.
What a lovely email from Leo on the "bloemencorso" in Zundert.
Certain villages in the north of Holland have them too and when you see the flower display from close by you see the special work and hours put in to achieve that.
Just beautiful.
Take care.

As Diane notes, looking at the finished product makes it easy to forget the thousands of hours put in by thousands of ordinary people, without recognition or reward, just for community spirit and camaraderie.  Some pics of the preparations and construction:

Why do people give each other flowers? To celebrate various important occasions, they're killing living creatures? Why restrict it to plants? "Sweetheart, let's make up. Have this deceased squirrel."
