 Here in Australia, as we watch the political intrigue and infighting within the parliamentary parties, the actions of the independents who hold the balance of power, the destruction of reputations by leaked information and public attacks, it is hard not to agree with President Kennedy at times. 

It is, however, easy to be cynical from the sidelines. 

Winston Churchill once commented:   

“Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe.  No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise.  Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those others that have been tried from time to time.”
