- Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott, whose car was nearly collected by a truck when he stopped on the Princes Highway near Winchelsea, Victoria to make a right hand turn into a property. Abbott was meeting with journalists to discuss the dangerous stretch of highway when a van travelling behind swerved left, which forced a large truck to swerve left onto the verge and brake suddenly.
